Melanie Hamrick is an American choreographer and former ballerina at the American Ballet Theatre. Hamrick trained with the American Ballet Theatre as a ballet student from 1997-2000. She made her debut as a corps dancer in 2001 and was promoted to soloist in 2004. She left the company in 2009 to focus on her own choreography ventures. In 2011, Hamrick created The Sleeping Beauty Project for New York City Ballet which debuted that year. She was born on September 27th, 1987 in Williamsburg, Virginia. In addition to her music career, Hamrick has appeared in several television shows and movies. She started her music career in 2006 as the lead singer of the rock band The Paper Kites. In 2009, she released her debut solo album titled “The Waiting Room”.
